My Story

Hi, I'm Kyra! My mom and I are the creators of Lucy-Loo & Roo. Being a doctor, my mom knew how vital gratitude was. She wanted to make sure my siblings and I grew up knowing the importance of being thankful for our blessings. So, she created the Gratitude Stick! We used the Gratitude Stick at dinner to express the things we were grateful for. We'd say one thing we liked about ourselves and two things we were thankful for.

Gratitude is something that needs to be practiced daily to achieve its benefits. As I grew older, I forgot to practice gratitude. Due to this, I lost my way for several years. A few years ago, I realized I had to change my habits to live the life I had envisioned for myself. Gratitude was at the core of this change. A quote from Oprah Winfrey resonated with me "Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough."

Throughout my journey, I began believing in a power greater than myself. To me, this was God, but to others, this could be a different religious figure or simply higher energy. Leading a life with gratitude and spirituality completely changed the direction of my life. All of my aspirations that felt impossible years ago are now blossoming into reality. I am currently living the life I had always envisioned for myself. I am blessed to have refound the gift of gratitude.

As a new mom, I want to make sure my child understands this vital lesson from a young age. Gratitude journals are great for adults and teens, but it isn't as easy for the little ones. This is how the story of Lucy-Loo and Roo and the magic of the Gratitude Stick came to be.

“I was first introduced to the Gratitude Stick many years ago; in fact, I still have the original Gratitude Stick, which was hand-made by Stacey. When I was a primary school teacher, gratitude was something I taught in my classes, through hands-on exercises with the Gratitude Stick. I’m excited to say I continue to explore and teach the benefits of gratitude with the help of Lucy-Loo, Roo, the Gratitude Stick and their storied adventures with Gratitude!”
